Light Up Thomaston was a fun event. I was situated in front of Adam's IGA and handed out flyers and candy to try and promote my business. One thing is true, I'm a better artist than a businessman. I understand that in order to have success in this field, I need to be skilled in both my craft and also, marketing. I am slowly learning how to promote and put myself out there. I must admit that I have much more fun enjoying getting to know my clients and photographing them than I do getting them to notice me. This is the curse of the introvert haha.

I also have more artistic ideas that I want to work on. One of them is "Spirit" Photography. I recently learned about William Mumler and how he would photograph people in the late 1900s, and the final product would be his subject and then a spirit or ghost would typically be standing next to them. Creepy... I know that he had his own methods for producing these but I am going to use a Slow Shutter Method to get the same look. Then edit them to make them look period appropriate.

Another thing I want to try is Light Painting. Also using a slow shutter speed, I would use colored lights, sparklers, glow sticks, etc. and more them about the frame until the shutter closes leaving a very beautiful display. There are a ton of great examples of this in Google Images.

Anywho, I have a lot of studying to do on marketing and a lot of ideas swirling through my noggin to keep me going for a while so with that I bid you Adieu.
